The Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development- CaLaBaRZon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) reminds the public to cast their vote safely and observe the minimum health and safety protocol in the upcoming May 9 National and Local Elections.
Based on the New Normal Manual issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), health and safety Protocols will strictly be imposed on the Election day.
“The Pandemic is not over yet. Voters must strictly observe the minimum health and safety protocols such as the proper wearing of face masks inside the polling center during the voting hours, frequent sanitizing/washing of hands, and physical distancing of at least one meter” DOH CalaBaRZon Regional Director Ariel I. Valencia said.
Moreover, the DOH emphasized getting a booster shot before participating in the upcoming National and Local Elections.
“If you protect your vote, you must also protect your health. By doing so, you are not just protecting yourself but also the people around you,” he emphasized.
On the day of the Election, health protocols will strictly be enforced, such as temperature check, submission of COVID-19 health Declaration Form, sanitation stations at points of entry, implementation of one-way system direction (Differently entry and exit points), Installation of Barriers between the Electoral Boards (EBs) and the voters, and Establishment of Isolation Polling Places (IPP) for COVID-positive individuals.
“We [DOH] will not hinder or stop any Filipino from exercising their right to vote; however, individuals positive for COVID-19 should remain in isolation while recovering and will be allowed to vote inside the designated Isolation Polling Places,” he concluded.
