Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco T. Duque III has designated Ariel Valencia, Director IV of the Supply Chain and Management Service as the new Regional Director for DOH – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) effective November 22, 2021.

In a simple ceremony today, Director Valencia received the symbolic key of responsibilities and acceptance from outgoing Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo whose term of service ended last November 20, 2021, completing 39 years with two extensions of service and with nine regional offices.

Valencia stated that he is looking forward to serve and provide his expertise in the prime region of the country. “Kailangang mapanatili natin ang magandang serbisyo at mapabuti pa ang serbisyong pangkalusugan na kailangan ng ating mga kababayan sa mga probinsya ng CALABARZON.

“Together with the DOH-CALABARZON family, our local government partners, private and public stakeholders, we shall take up all the challenges and deliver all the needed health services to our people,” he stressed.

Valencia served as Regional Director in four regions – the National Capital Region (2014-2018), Western Visayas (2008-1012), CARAGA (2012-2013) and MIMAROPA (2013-2014) where he implemented successful programs and projects of the department through careful and strategic coordination with the different stakeholders and the local government units.

Before becoming the director of the DOH-Supply Chain and Management Service, he was the Acting Deputy Director for Field Regulatory Operations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2014 where he advocated for the implementation and enforcement of the FDA’s police power through the Regional Cluster Operations for the field inspectors and the Regulatory Enforcement Unit (REU) based on Republic Act 9711 and established Integrity Management Committee (IMC), with the objective of raising awareness and reducing the risk areas of corruption within the agency.

He has 29 years of public service which began in 1992 as a medical officer for the province of Rizal and then became the municipal health officer of Taytay (1992-2004) before transferring to DOH as Medical Specialist II at DOH-MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro. Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and then later assigned as an executive assistant (2005-2007).

Valencia said that all health programs and projects that were initiated in the region will be continued.

That is why we will continue to be agents of continuous change to affect good health to all,” Valencia assured.
