Batangas City - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of an additional Covid-19 treatment facilities at the Batangas Medical Center, one of the apex hospitals of the Department of Health – CALABARZON located in Batangas City.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the off-site hospital buildings completed by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local/National Health Facilities together with Batangas 2nd District Engineering Office are now being prepared for operation to provide additional healthcare services to patients from Batangas and its nearby provinces.

The three (3) cluster facilities that were completed includes one (1) unit with 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) rooms installed with a closed-circuit television (cctv) monitoring for moderate to severe Covid patients and one (1) unit with 21 rooms for isolation and monitoring of mild symptoms cases.

“The facility also included a makeshift dormitory with 22 rooms dedicated to accommodate 44 healthcare professionals who will be attending to patients in the facility.”

The DPWH said that the facility will be opened this coming month of May 2021 after the completion of civil works and the installation and setting up of medical equipment to accommodate the surge in cases including spillover patients from Metro Manila and nearby areas in Southern Tagalog Region.

DOH-CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo conveyed his gratitude to Secretary Villar for his initiative and continuous support in the improvement of health facilities in the region.
