As part of Government efforts to provide accessible and affordable health care services to people, the Department of Health- Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) has proceeded with the establishment of the ‘Calatagan Super Health Center’ in Barangay Gulod, Calatagan, Batangas, yesterday, November 7, 2022.

Senate Committee on Health Chairman Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go, together with 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain, Calatagan Major Oliver Palace, DOH CALABARZON Regional Ariel I. Valencia, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rozvilinda Ozaeta, Executive Assistant to the Governor Marcelito Malabanan and the local government and barangay officials of Calatagan led the groundbreaking ceremony of the 8th Super Health Center to be built in Batangas. 

The Super Health Center is a scaled-up version of a Rural Health Unit (RHU) capable of providing essential medical services. 

A total of 41 Super Health Centers will be built throughout CaLaBaRZon, that include: Cavite 9; Laguna 7; Batangas 8; Rizal 7 and Quezon 10, "Layunin ng gobyerno na mailapit sa taumbayan ang abot-kayang mga serbisyong medikal. Sa pamamagitan nito ay hindi na nila kailangan pang makipag siksikan sa mga ospital para sa mga medical services,” said DOH CALABARZON Regional Director Ariel I. Valencia.

The proposed ‘Calatagan Super Health Center’ is a one-story Primary Care Facility with outpatient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray and ECG), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other services for eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT), oncology center, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and telemedicine.

‘Calatagan Super Health Center’ will be constructed on 300 sqm of land owned by the local government of Calatagan located in Barangay Gulod, Calatagan, Batangas. 

Of the eight (8) Super Health Centers to be established in the province of Batangas, two (2) are already in progress, in Batangas City and Calatagan, respectively. The construction target completion is on April 1, 2023.

The project cost is more than Php 6.4 million under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) General Appropriations Act  (GAA) of  2022
