According to Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo, the telemedicine service was established in STRH as a response to the healthcare needs, not only of Caviteños but also of its neighboring provinces and provide for an accessible healthcare services amidst the pandemic.
“This is the only way where our people can get the help they need, especially the senior citizens na hindi makalabas at makapunta sa hospital at lalu na yung mga nangangailangan ng regular visit sa kanilang mga doctor for health consultations.’
“Sa telemedicine, pwede silang magpakunsulta and they can do it without leaving the security of their homes,” he stated.
The STRH Telemedicine and TeleDentistry was launched on October 8, 2021.
STRH Hospital Chief Ephraim Rubiano established the STRH Command Center to facilitate patient consultations and referral system.
The center accepts calls, SMS, and chats from patients asking for medical and dental consultation. Information will be gathered including health concerns and proceed to set patients for appointment with the available doctors for TeleMedicine, TeleDentistry, and OPD.
The patient then calls the STRH Command Center and the navigators sets up an appointment for them either through TeleMedicine, TeleDentistry, or Face-to-face consultation.
Rubiano said that in some cases where a case cannot be handled through TeleMedicine or if the patient opts for a face-to-face consultation, a schedule shall be set forth depending on the availability of the Doctor.
From October 2020 up to the present, a total of 244 clients where given consultations using the telemedicine system while 13 individuals were provided dental service through the TeleDentistry program.
