“Mula ng magumpisa ang Covid sa bansa, kasama na natin ang mga kapulisan na nakikibaka sa pandemya at karamihan sa kanila ay kasama natin bilang mga frontliners na siyang nangangalaga at nagbabantay ng kalusugan ng ating mga mamamayan upang hindi kumalat ang Covid-19 sa ating mga komunidad. Sila ay nasa ating mga border control checkpoints at community patrol at tagapangasiwa ng mga quarantine protocols kasama ng mga lokal na pamahalaan,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated in his message.
“The PNP is part of our emergency response during disaster and relief operations including being at the forefront of the Covid situation. Their resilience and selfless service in keeping peace and order amidst the danger of the pandemic is commendable. Kasama natin sila sa hirap at dahil dito marami na rin sa kanila ang nasawi tulad ng ating mga health worker dahil sa Covid,” he emphasized.
The Philippine National Police has a total of 24 fatalities from among their members. Positive covid cases is at 7,541 as of November 10, 2020 with 7,087 recoveries. They have a total of 430 active cases.
According to Janairo the land ambulance will further boost the regional response capabilities of the PNP to overcome the present COVID-10 crisis and other emergency situations.
The unit was received by officers of the RHS-RTOC PRO 4A led by PMAJ Garry R. Paredez, Chief of Medical Dispensary and PLT Diosdado A. Bayan.
The land ambulance is supplied with medical equipment necessary for emergency medical personnel to respond to medical emergency including automatic external defibrillator, nebulizer, portable suction machine, examining light, aneroid sphygmomanometer, folding stretcher, scoop stretcher, heavy duty stethoscope, and oxygen cylinder.
The unit was procured through the DOH-HFEP which upgrades the capabilities of government health facilities as well as providing training to health professionals to improve the access of people to quality health care.
Aside from the land ambulance, the regional office also donated anti-dengue equipment and insecticides worth PhP2,233,803.403 which includes 3 spray cans, 560 bottles of various kinds of insecticides, 100 Olyset rolls, 100 bednets, 10 sets of PPEs and 100 dengue kits for anti-dengue activities.
