Press Release/14 January 2020

Department of Health (DOH) CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) today visited one of the biggest evacuation centers in Batangas province to ensure that all health teams are timely deployed and health services are delivered on time.

Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo together with local government officials of the province visited evacuees at the Batangas Sports Complex in Batangas City to provide measles vaccine to children, facemasks and other medical supplies needed at the centers.

Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated during his visit.

“We will ensure that all health care needs of evacuees will be provided to prevent the onset and spread of any illness in evacuation centers,” he assured.

As of January 14, 2020, there are 4,402 individuals or a total of 940 families staying at the Batangas Sports Complex.

The regional office has also provided Olyset nets in all evacuation areas to be installed in windows for protection against mosquitoes, nebulizer machines, and Ventolin nebules for people with asthma, facemasks, and portalets.

“We will continue to provide preventive measures to reduce the spread of illness. People crowded together in places such as evacuation centers are vulnerable to disease outbreaks caused by respiratory illnesses and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as other communicable diseases.,” Janairo emphasized.

Practicing proper hygiene and good infection prevention measures can prevent any illness,” he concluded.
