CALABARZON MAYORS NOW ON THEIR 3RD MLGP TRAINING MODULE

Eight CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Mayors and Municipal Health Officers and one MIMAROPA (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) Mayor and Development Management Officer from Romblon are now undergoing a four-day Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP) now on their Module 3 Training – Moving Towards Sustainability and Resilience which started on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 up to Friday. 23, 2018 in Pasay City.
“We will be expecting these local executives and health officers to demonstrate competence level in applying the principles and processes learned in Bridging Leadership and Primary Health Care and in addressing the health challenges and inequities in their respective municipalities,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.
“May you continue to create a continuity action plan to sustain your accomplishments and performance in the continuously emerging challenges in health and establish an effective service delivery network to ensure the health care needs of your constituents are met. The regional office is here to provide you support in all your plans and endeavors in providing better health outcomes in your municipalities,” he emphasized.
Under the third module, the new MLGP version will be applied which endeavors to introduce a strengthened standard and paradigm in leadership and governance that will form effective leaders and empower citizens, embodying the principles of primary health care
The MLGP Training is conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON together with Zuellig Family Foundation and University of the Philippines Manila School of Health Sciences (UP-MSHS).
Among the participants who joined the MLGP – Module 3 Training were Mayors and their MHOs – Hon. Virgilio P. Varias and Dr. Evagelina B. Manzo of Alfonso, Cavite; Hon. Dino Carlo R. Chua and Dr. Mari Hilda C. Bucu of Noveleta, Cavite; Hon. Carlo Invinzor B. Claro and Dr. Ivan Villareal of Majayjay, Laguna; Hon. Antonioo M. Carolino and Dr. Ma Lualhati De Torre of Sta. Maria, Laguna; Hon. Daniel D. Reyes and Dr. Richard B. Landicho of Agoncillo, Batangas; Hon. Michael Angelo Rivera and Dr. Orlando M. Silva of Padre Garcia, Batangas; Hon. Alexander N. Rivera and Dr. Lynn Daryll Villamar of Buenavista, Quezon; Hon. Amado P. Penamora and Dr. Ma. Cecilia N. Sargento of Panukulan, Quezon and from San Fenando, Romblon – Honorable Salem Tansingco and Mr. Jembo Magante.
The object of the MLGP training is to promote transformative changes to local health leaders for better health outcomes of their respective towns. This is in support of the Millennium Development Goals, by applying the knowledge and skills gained in health leadership modules. It is supplemented by coaching and mentoring sessions on local health system development which focuses on Good Governance in the health sector, Health Service Delivery, Health Workforce, Health Information, Access to Essential Medicines and Healthcare Financing.
