DOH-CALABARZON OPENS SURGERY CENTER IN BATMC

Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo together with local government officials of the Province of Batangas led the inauguration and blessing of the new surgery center at the Batangas Medical Center (BatMC) that will deliver advanced surgical care services the region on August 24, 2018.
“It offers a wide range of surgical procedures, from outpatient surgeries to more complex surgical cases requiring hospitalization. Patients need not go specialty hospitals in Manila because all the available surgical services will be readily available for them,” he emphasized.
The BatMC Surgery center offers six spacious operating suites and provides the technology needed to perform a wide variety of surgeries, including general surgery. It also features modern equipment known as boom technology and digital imaging displays.
The new Surgery “B” building with Operating Room Complex was funded through the DOH-Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) with an allotment amounting to P155,900,00.80 million. Six old operating rooms are subject for renovation
In 2017, The OPD – Psychiatry Building was completed including the MRI Building with a 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Machine that is used to produce detailed pictures of the body's organs and structures. BatMC is also ISO 9001-2015 accredited.
“It is important for hospitals to evolve, expand its facilities, and provide new technologies to meet the needs of the people and bring the best possible health care to them. Quality care, safety and patient satisfaction must always be underlined,” Janairo concluded.
BatMC opened on January 1, 1928 as Batangas Provincial Hospital with a 30-bed capacity. It was renamed as Batangas Regional Hospital on July 10, 1962 after it was designated as a teaching and training hospital. By virtue of Republic Act No. 9791, it was converted to Batangas Medical Center with 500-bed capacity.
